As soon as I discovered this I was desperate to contact my gig-buddy to see if he'd like to accompany me. On checking the dates on the website I discovered that it was the same day as two of my best friends were getting married! Why oh why oh why oh why...
So, this year there's Snow Patrol, Keane and Ash and I'm tempted. Especially as my cousin lives on the island and we'd get a comfy bed for the night! (Forgive me, I'm old and don't like sleeping on the ground - my back is hurting just at the thought).
This morning we left at about 9.45am and with a stop of just over an hour in Worksop, we drove home. Only five hours on the road today, but mostly motorway driving. I had to stop for about 20 minutes as I came over all tired and just needed a power nap before starting again. It did the trick and I felt refreshed enough to drive most of the journey back.
I took this photo while I was a passenger, however.
It's a way of finding out where your friends are and what they're up to at any given time.
Options are to have your details just known to friends or the public at large.
I'm choosing the latter at present as I don't know anyone else on Twitter, but it's just a matter of time.
In addition to Twitter, The Icon Factory, (one of my all time favourite websites) have released Twitterrific, a freebie piece of software that runs on Macs which gives Twitter a really beautiful interface that runs separately from the Twitter website. We Mac users have come to expect great looking GUI's.
I'm not sure how authentic it is but I've just seen a post from the BBC with a news headline on it. This just gets better!
I think I'm hooked.
I've followed the instructions. I have a mobile (cell) phone that sends email. I have taken photos on my phone camera, I have emailed them to the special secret vox address. I've assigned my Flickr account to my Vox blog, I've moblogged my photos to Flickr, where I can view them.
Yet they still don't show up here!
I'm a complete dunce. Forgive me.
There was some running up and down and high-fiving from the over exuberant staff at one point. I'm not sure it was quite as natural as it might be at a store in the USA, because after all, we British don't do that stuff very easily. There was also some "Woop wooping" to get the crowd going but as I moved further to the front I realised they had employed somebody to shout out and clap every so often, it wasn't that anything had happened in particular. I thought that it was all rather false which was a pity because I was just enjoying being there without the imported farce.
The Store is tiny. I've no idea where they intend to hold the lectures they'll be giving, but I'm sure it will all become clear soon enough.
I did have a play with the MacBooks and the MacBook Pros. I'll be in the market to buy as soon as Apple release Leopard and my G4 PowerBook is still worth something to somebody.
So the Beatles iPod didn't happen. Yet.
The only thing that cheered me up today was finding out that Apple Corps. and Apple inc. have at last settled their differences. It's out in the open and all official. Click here to get the skinny.
I still think it will happen and I think it will be soon.
